Natural Ways to Deal with Anxiety Attacks

1

Natural Ways to Deal with Anxiety AttacksAnxiety attacks can have a very negative impact on a person’s quality of life and general well being.  During an attack, the person will have an abnormal thought process.  He or she will react to things and behave differently.  There are reasons for this, chemicals in their body get out of balance.  This chemical imbalance can cause the person to have unfounded fears, physical pain, and inappropriate reactions to things.  Outside of prescribed medication, there are natural ways to deal with anxiety attacks.

Someone suffering from this problem may have problems in his or her social life.  Personal relationships with friends, family, or a romantic partner may suffer.  If the problem does not get addressed and treated, it will not get any better.  Untreated anxiety attacks can lead a person to become depressed and feel as though his or her life is worthless.  In very extreme situations, it can even lead to the sufferer attempting suicide.  Along with treatment from a medical professional, here are some natural treatments to try:

Relaxation and Meditation are effective ways to handle anxiety attacks.  Breathing techniques can be useful as it allows the person’s mind to control his or her body.  These techniques may be used during an attack.  They can help the person control breathing, slow his or her heartbeat back to regular levels, and focus the mind on something other than what triggered the anxiety attack.  A person will get better at these methods over time and with practice, and once they are mastered, they are extremely helpful.

The food that people consume can affect not only their physical health, but also their mental health.  When a person eats a healthy, well balanced diet it helps him or her to have a healthier brain.  Natural foods are much better than foods that are overly processed and full of preservatives.

Exercise is another good way to deal with anxiety attacks.  This is because exercise promotes over all well being.  If a person can just exercise for half an hour, three days a week, it will have lasting positive effects both physically and mentally.

There are herbal treatments to try as well.  Some of the most popular treatments that people have tried are, St. John Wort, Ginkgo Biloba, California Poppy, Passionflower, Valerian, and Lavender.  Some people use the herbs to make tea, however, most of these herbs can be found over the counter in many forms.  They can come in tea, tablets, oil, liquid, powder, or in a capsule.

If a person has religious beliefs, he or she can use prayer.  There have been studies to prove that prayer helps to effectively relieve anxiety and stress.  This is because the act of praying has a calming effect on the mind and body.

Most people have heard that laughter is the best medicine.  In many ways, that is true.  When a person laughs, the body releases endorphins.  These endorphins are chemicals that help a person feel good.

There are cases where anxiety attacks happen and the victim can not figure out why.  However, they do happen for a reason and the person should try to figure out what triggers his or her anxiety attacks.

If the person can identify what is causing him or her to have these attacks, the core issue can then be dealt with.  This, along with using natural ways to deal with anxiety attacks can be a great help.
